Specialty Vocabulary vs. Custom Language Model?

The differences:  Specialty vocabularies are generically designed for your specialty using documents from many professionals in your field.   It knows the words you use but not the unique way you as an individual use language.   In contrast, a Custom Language Model is based on your own electronic documents and, in our experience, there's no better vocabulary than your own!

A Custom Language Model will reduce hours of frustration and training.  If you have from 10 to 50 MB of electronic documents stored on a computer disk (or can retrieve them from your transcriptionist), we can construct your Custom Language Model tailored to the unique way you use language.  Custom Language Models give the best recognition and reduce training by 30 to 40 hours.   Multiplied by your professional rate, this could save you the cost of your voice recognition system!

If you have access to 500 KB to 5 MB of documents on disk, a Specialty Vocabulary plus a Vocabulary Build can reduce training time.  This optimization process adds the unique words you use as well as the words you use in combination, and updates the specialty vocabulary with terms that came into use since that Specialty Vocabulary was created.

We currently recommend the Medical or Legal Solution to along with a Custom Language Model as your fastest track to frustration-free recognition.

Customizing

Customization includes templates (in Office/Word 2000/SP, WordPerfect, documentation management or electronic medical record systems), and macros (a series of keystrokes and/or commands invoked with a single voice command).

Templates include formats for medical chart/SOAP notes, history and physical examinations, report forms, correspondence and consultations, legal contracts, pleadings, and other forms specific to your practice.  Templates can be custom designed or adapted from your document library, and enhanced with a hand-held microphone with programmable buttons that allows you to rapidly jump from one input field to another, boosting your productivity.

Macros can be invoked with a voice command to insert phrases, paragraphs, or even  pages of text into your template.  You can then select words or phrases that need to be changed for a particular patient/client.   As an example of a text macro , you could say "A. B. A." and get  "American Bar Association", or "T. and A." and see "tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy" spelled out.   A more complicated macro such as "Send E-Mail" opens your e-mail program, automatically steps through your e-mail logon process, opens a new mail message, and then opens your address book to retrieve the appropriate email address.   These macros can help you whiz through your daily tasks and speed you on to whatever is next on your schedule, work or play.

Optimizing

Optimization "stacks the deck" for better recognition.  Whether it's fine-tuning your microphone settings to exclude background noise, pre-loading your vocabulary with the words and phrases you use, or watching you work and implementing shortcuts for your routine tasks, Voice TranscriptionTM is there to assist you in all the little ways that make your transition to speech recognition a positive experience for you and your staff.

Training

Except as requested, Voice Transcription training is one on one.  Everyone is unique in many respects and no two people do tasks in exactly the same way.  We've designed our training to enhance the particular skills (and minimize potential deficits) each person brings to the work environment.  Training covers the following:

bullet

Understanding and being comfortable with the voice recognition process

bullet

Stepping through your tasks so you're familiar with the way dictation processes and what to do when what you get isn't what you wanted

bullet

Utilizing all the tools your software allows to maximize production and minimize time spent in processing

bullet

Fine tuning for superior recognition

Support
